2nd AGM Report
reported by: Dr. Roland K C Tan Secretary (Term 1995/96) The AES Singapore Section - 2nd AGM was held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Electrical Engineering Department, Singapore on June 28, 1996, Friday at about 8.30 pm local time. There was a total number of 11 participants that composed of 9 members and 2 invited guests. The highlights of the agenda included
a brief membership recruitment talk conducted by the outgoing Secretary, Dr.
Roland Tan, past section's activities report by the outgoing Chairman, Stephen
Low and Treasurer's report. This was immediately followed by the section
election conducted by Tooraj Forughian who was also the Returning Officer for
the section's 1st AGM.
Singapore had a total number of 36 AES members. The section was formed almost 2 years ago with only 20 members and was only officially recognised recently by the Registry Of Society (ROS), Singapore in December 1995. Since then, the section has been very active in promoting its society's memberships through local seminars and tours. Five past section's activities have been reported so far that included seminars on topics such as studio microphones, sound enhancement techniques, audio test & measurement, multimedia, and even a tour to one of the local radio broadcasting stations. Altogether 6 members were elected for the term 1996/97; Roland Tan is the Chairman; Jibby Jacob, Secretary; Byron Bishop, Treasurer; and Richt Teo, Stephen Low & Eric Wong are the committee members. Momentous, in appreciation for their past contributions, were presented to all outgoing section officers. The AES Singapore Section would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Kay Das, Senior Manager of SGS-Thomson Microelectronics and Michael Teh, Managing Director of TEH International Corporation (Pte) Ltd, our 2 guests who had shown their keen interest and support for the AES and had even handed their completed memberships application forms to the Secretary immediately after the meeting ended at about 10 pm!
